Before Endodontic Treatment
This procedure will be performed using local anesthesia. There are usually no restrictions after the procedure concerning driving or returning to work or school.
Continue all medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems and any other conditions as recommended by your physician, unless otherwise advised. If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.
Please eat a full breakfast or lunch as applicable. There are usually no restrictions to eating for procedures performed in our office, unless otherwise advised by the doctor.
If you have been advised by your physician or dentist to use antibiotic pre-medication due to a hip or knee replacement, cardiac or other prosthesis, or other reasons, please make sure that you are on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your appointment. If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.
Inflammation is anticipated after procedures. For our adult patients who can take ibuprofen (Advil 200 mg per tablet) please take 400-600 mg (two to three, 200 mg tablets) one hour prior to the procedure. If you are not able to take this medication, but are able to take acetaminophen (Tylenol), please take a total of 1000 mg (i.e. two, 500 mg tablets) one hour prior to the procedure.
