Before Surgical Treatment
This procedure will be performed using local anesthesia. Although you should be comfortable during the procedure, we recommend that you take the day off to be able to go home, rest, and follow recommended post-surgical instructions (e.g. cold compresses to the surgical area). If you have questions or concerns after the procedure, please let us know.
Continue all medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems and any other conditions as recommended by your physician, unless otherwise advised. If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.
Please eat a full breakfast or lunch as applicable. There are usually no restrictions to eating with procedures performed in our office, unless otherwise advised by the doctor.
If you have been advised by your physician or dentist to use antibiotic pre-medication due to a hip or knee replacement, cardiac or other prosthesis, or other reasons, please make sure that you are on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your appointment. If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.
For our adult patients who can take ibuprofen (Advil) (200 mg per tablet) we recommend taking 2 tablets of this medication one hour prior to the procedure to help reduce inflammation that may occur after the procedure. If you are not able to take this medication, but are able to take acetaminophen (Tylenol), please take a total of 1000 mg (i.e. two, 500 mg tablets) one hour prior to the procedure.
