Regenerative Procedures
This procedure is an alternative to apexification and is used for immature teeth with open apices (root ends) with diseased and infected pulp tissues. Pulp regeneration is performed in an effort to remove infection from the canal(s) and allows stem cells that are naturally in the body to re-populate the canal to “re-grow” both nerves and other pulpal tissues. When successful, the tooth continues to grow and function normally and the walls of the roots thicken, thereby improving the long-term retention of the tooth and reducing the risk of fracture. Louis Endodontics uses a treatment protocol outlined by the American Association of Endodontists based the best available scientific research and experience.
